School Values

Our core values guide us in everything we do at East Point Academy, and help us ensure we prepare pupils to be successful in their community, both while at school and throughout their life beyond.

Be Aspirational

We want our students to have big dreams and the tools to realise them. We believe this comes from three key ingredients. Great academic outcomes give our students a wide variety of options. Whether they are determined to become an Oxford History graduate or they are still considering their future career path, a strong set of GCSE results will allow them to find their dream job. We understand that a range of experiences, academic and extra-curricular, helps students to find their passion. The choices and decisions students have to make to shape their future are complex and it takes a range of people from across the community to fully realise their aspirations.

Develop Independence

We teach our students to be independent thinkers, providing them with the knowledge and the skills to be the change they want to see in the world. We nurture our students through high-quality pastoral support and opportunities to explore their talents and interests through our carefully considered Personal Development Programme. We expect our students to have opinions and know how to express themselves in order to make positive contributions to the academy and our community.

Show Resilience

We help students to understand that learning is a journey with many ups and downs along the way.  They are taught to learn from their mistakes and embrace challenges. Through perseverance and determination, our students develop confidence and strength of character which will help prepare them for whatever challenges they may face in the future. No matter what the challenge our students are faced with we have a range of staff available to support. We know each of our students is an individual and we provide support according to their needs.

Give Respect

Students learn what it means to be respectful of themselves and those around them and the environment. From the Principals Council to our Anti-bullying ambassadors, student voice is an important part of our school culture. We know that students learn best when all other distractions are taken away. To help with this we make our expectations of student behaviour, conduct and uniform really clear. We regularly remind students of our ‘EPA 10’ - our expectations. We have clear classroom routines and clear expectations for how students should behave between lessons including at break and lunch. Our uniform requirements are detailed and updated as necessary on the school’s website and students are expected to meet these requirements. We expect students to be courteous to each other as well as staff and visitors and demonstrate respect in all they do.
